Fendi is an Italian luxury ready-to-wear brand founded by Adele and Eduardo Fendi in 1925. Since 2001, he has belonged to the LVMH Group.

What is the history of the luxury brand FENDI?

The history of the brand began in 1925 in Rome when married couple Adele and Edoardo Fendi decided to specialize in fur and leather goods. The design became popular in his 1940s, first in Rome and then abroad. Adele and Edoardo The brand achieved real success when her Fendi’s five daughters joined the family business.

In 1965, they hired the young German designer Karl Lagerfeld as the brand’s artistic director. The latter is the origin of Fendi’s logo and takes the form of two of his F’s inverted. Fendi created a ready-to-wear collection for women in 1977 under the direction of Lagerfeld.

Adele and Eduardo, granddaughters of Silvia Fendi, designed Baguette his bag in 1998.

The Fendi family purchased his 17th-century palace in Rome in 2001. Palazzo Fendi opened his 2016 with a boutique and workshop dedicated to the brand.

The company was run by Pietro Beccari from 2012 until the end of 2017, and fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld served as artistic director from 1965 until 2019. On February 20, 2018, LVMH announced the appointment of Serge Brunschwig as CEO. Pietro Beccari was appointed CEO of Christian Dior in November 2017.

Following Karl Lagerfield’s death in February 2019, Silvia Venturini Fendi took over the artistic direction of the men’s collection. In 2020, Kim Jones takes over the artistic direction of the women’s collection.
